Built to Last with PDQ: Why Plastic Pallets?
There are countless factors to consider when evaluating wooden or plastic pallets for a given application: when it comes to low initial cost and one-time use, wooden pallets are often the appropriate choice. Yet plastic pallets, though more expensive, can ultimately yield a higher cost benefit because of their durable construction and long lifespan, which enables them to be re-used over and over. Fundamentally different, wooden and plastic pallets each have distinctly different markets.
In order to support the price difference between wood and plastic, the plastic pallet must deliver on its promises, and deliver long term. Constant movement, repeated washing, and exposure to wide temperature swings are all conditions that eat up pallets. As PDQs pallets were originally designed for the heaviest industrial use, they are more than up to the task.
Since 1969, PDQ Plastics, Inc. has been in the business of supplying only the most durable plastic pallets available. For most of those 43 years, we only sold pallets that were made in our own factory. But as the market for plastic pallets expanded, we were faced with numerous applications that did not suit the particular style of pallet we made: PDQ primarily makes nine-leg nestable pallets. As the market began to change, we adapted to accommodate client demand, and established a relationship with manufacturers of double faced pallets. Without losing sight of our core business, PDQ Plastics expanded to take advantage of new opportunities. In much the same vein, wooden pallet suppliers often find themselves in need of a plastic pallets: we encourage wood pallet suppliers to reach out to us. A good working relationship not only benefits the client-base, but is a boon to both types of pallet manufacturers.
To support our commitment to durable pallets, PDQ not only offers the best customer service in the industry, but only sells plastic pallets for applications they are suited for. Simplicity of design and purpose have kept the plastic pallet largely immune to the leap-frog nature of technology driven obsolescence, and by focusing on basic design elements and function PDQ Plastics has remained an industry leader without making major changes. Of course, we have added a list of new features to our pallets over the yearssuch as the addition of a lip, or drilling drain holes but these changes are value added options, not alterations to the fundamental design or function of plastic pallets. But the bottom line for PDQ Plastics still remains the same: our dedication to providing customers with the longest service life in the industry is the core of our business philosophy.
